Comfortable And Swanky Mumbai Metro

Maharashtra’s chief minister Prithviraj Chavan launched Mumbai Metro on Sunday. Services were then opened to general public who were eagerly waiting for this alternative way of commuting. The excitement was obvious because they were getting it after a wait of eight years.
The entire project consisting of three high-capacity metro railway lines will be completed in three phases and will take more than 15 years to complete it by 2021.
Three lines of Mumbai Metro
Line 1 – It will cover the total distance of 11.4 km from Versova to Ghatkopar
Line 2 – It will cover the total distance of 40.2 km from Dahisar to Mankhurd
Line 3 – It will cover the total distance of 33 km from Colaba to SEEPZ
First Phase of metro was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in June 2006 which started its operation on June 8, 2014. Mumbai Metro started on Sunday will take around 1,500 commuters in one go between Versova to Ghatkopar. In a day metro will complete 200-250 services taking about 11 lakh passengers. Daily its operations will commence from 5.30 am to midnight. The fast speed Mumbai Metro will cover the total distance from Versova to Ghatkopar in 21 minutes that generally take one hour by road.
Responsibility to supply power, its installation, testing, distribution etc for line system 1 has been given to the Swiss-Swedish ABB Group.
Mumbai Metro has been equipped with advanced signaling system and automated system to control the movement of the train.
Mumbai Metro Rail is a striking addition to the local transport system of the city. Just like Delhi Metro, it has classy and clean platforms with swanky ticket and checking counters. Customer care centres have been established to listen the needs and complaints of customers.
Mumbai Metro has been created to lessen the traffic congestion and extremely crowded Mumbai Suburban Railway network. But the launch happened amidst of fare controversy. The CM refused to attend the inaugural ceremony if the RInfra-promoted Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd (MMOPL) won’t consider the government-suggested fare structure.
In spite of all these Mumbai Metro is extremely comfortable mode of transport with AC coaches.
